Judge Gil Jones brings more than five decades of legal, financial, and judicial experience to the mediation of real estate and construction disputes. Before taking the District Court bench in 1997, his law practice included real estate, business, and civil litigation. His earlier career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) provides an additional financial perspective useful in disputes involving construction costs, contracts, damages, and accounting issues.
During sixteen years as a Texas State District Judge and in his mediation practice since 2013, Judge Jones has dealt with a broad range of disputes involving real property, construction, contracts, and commercial relationships.
His mediation practice includes disputes involving:
- Residential and commercial construction
- Construction contracts and payment disputes
- Texas Prompt Payment Act and RCLA claims
- Easements and access disputes
- Boundary and title disputes
- Partition of real property including heirs partition
- Real estate contracts and transactions
- Contractor, owner, and subcontractor disputes
- Other real estate and construction matters
Judge Jones is a retired Texas State District Judge and a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1973). He is credentialed Distinguished by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.
