Judge Gil Jones brings more than five decades of legal, financial, business, and judicial experience to the mediation of business and commercial disputes. His background as both an attorney and Certified Public Accountant (CPA), followed by sixteen years as a Texas State District Judge, provides a practical perspective on disputes involving business ownership, financial issues, contracts, management, and commercial relationships.
Before taking the District Court bench in 1997, Judge Jones’s law practice included business organizations, commercial transactions, and business litigation. His earlier career as a CPA adds a financial and accounting perspective particularly useful when disputes involve valuation, profits and losses, financial records, ownership interests, or damages.
Since beginning his mediation practice in 2013, Judge Jones has mediated more than 800 cases, including disputes involving:
- Business ownership and management
- Partnership and shareholder disputes
- Business dissolution and separation
- Contract disputes
- Business-to-business (B2B) claims
- Financial and accounting disputes
- Damages and valuation issues
- Other commercial disputes
Judge Jones is a retired Texas State District Judge and a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1973). He is credentialed Distinguished by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.
