Probate, Estate & Trust Mediation

Judge Gil Jones brings more than five decades of legal and financial experience to the mediation of probate, estate, trust, and fiduciary disputes. Before taking the District Court bench in 1997, his principal law practice included estate planning and probate. His earlier career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) provides an additional financial perspective particularly useful in disputes involving estates, trusts, accountings, and fiduciary obligations.

Since beginning his mediation practice in 2013, Judge Jones has mediated more than 800 cases, including disputes involving:

  • Will contests
  • Family settlement agreements
  • Executor and trustee qualifications and removal
  • Breach of fiduciary duty claims against executors and trustees
  • Estate and trust accountings
  • Heirship and partition disputes
  • Other contested probate, estate, and trust matters

Judge Jones is a retired Texas State District Judge and a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1973). He is credentialed Distinguished by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.
