I recently installed the Clio Legal Practice Management and Client Intake Software. Although it is not designed for a mediation practice I have managed to make it work quite well. There are few differences that the mediation client will notice. That includes:
- Payments are now via LawPay instead of Square.
- I will invoice either the attorney or their client as directed by the attorney.
- The information gathering that occurred in the Microsoft Bookings page has now been split up. Bookings is now a very short form. The booking attorney will get an Intake Form to fill in online with the essential case information and details about the attorney and the client. Then each other attorney — which becomes known to me via the booking attorney Intake Form — gets a shorter Intake Form. That will give me full contact info on the attorney (if new, and updated if it’s a known lawyer), and on the attorney’s client.
- Clio provides a portal (Clio Connect) whereby attorneys can securely upload documents to me directly filed into their case.
- Electronic signatures are now via HelloSign which is more familiar to most.
It is my hope that the overall process will be very familiar to those who have mediated with me before, but more streamlined.
